The parties return to the table starting October 21 in Chicago under the direction of Gerry McGuckin from the NMB. At mediator McGuckin’s request, in advance of this week's session there was some subcommittee work done in Chicago. Also as a part of this advance work, officials from TeamCare met with the company along with Business Agents from several locals.
UAL-CAL-CMI Mechanics Update
The UAL mechanics seniority committee met last week in Seattle Washington to discuss some open issues prior to returning to the task of merging the three seniority lists. One of the main topics discussed was on the subject of tiebreakers. The process of merging the lists will resume in the coming weeks.
On August 14, Denver Tech Ops management, on behalf of the United Corporation, recognized sub-UA Teamster-E.A.P. committee member Michael Brooks for his years of contribution and dedication to his fellow employees. His work as an active board member on the “United We Care Employee Relief Fund” was memorialized with the presentation of a Professional Crystal Award and cake.
On August 19th through the 21st UAL mechanics negotiations resumed with the parties meeting in Chicago under the direction of Federal Mediator Gerry McGuckin. On the 19th the parties were briefed by Mediator McGuckin on the negotiations process moving forward. The parties reached tentative agreements on two articles and finalized language on nine other articles.

On Tuesday, July 15th, the national GSE and Facilities committee representing sub United mechanics met in Houston. With the awarding of contracts around the system, the committee pressed on the need for the union to be involved early in the process of facility overhauls to ensure the scope of the projects does not violate the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.
In preparation for the upcoming mediation sessions, the parties met in Chicago during the week of July 7, 2014 through July 11, 2014. During this session the union committee revisited the problems resulting from the company’s incorrect interpretation of, and failure to implement, certain provisions of the respective standalone contracts.
