Teamsters Appeal to NetJets Customers in Dispute Over Subcontracting and Pay

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Teamsters Airline Division and Local 284 are contacting NetJets customers as part of an effort to publicize their escalating labor dispute over subcontracting critical maintenance and wages.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Teamsters Airline Division and Local 284 represent mechanics, maintenance control, aircraft fuelers, aircraft cleaners and stock clerks.  The Columbus-based business jet operator is owned by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A and BRK.B).

Teamsters Handbill at NetJets Over Maintenance Subcontracting

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Aircraft mechanics, fuelers, cleaners and stock clerks passed out hundreds of handbills to their NetJets co-workers in the company cafeteria in response to their employer’s decision to subcontract critical maintenance work to third-party vendors.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Teamsters Airline Division and Local 284 criticized NetJets today for continuing to subcontract critical aircraft maintenance to vendors and subcontractors as part of a scheme to save money, rather than using its own workers.

The Columbus-based business jet operator is owned by Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A and BRK.B).

Teamster Flight Dispatchers Ratify Tentative Agreement

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Following a tentative agreement on May 6, 2016, Teamster flight dispatchers at NetJets have voted unanimously to ratify their first-ever contract. The vote was 38 to 0 in favor of accepting the agreement.

NetJets workers are speaking out against cost-cutting demands and proposals that they say undermine the ability to perform their jobs, which are essential to the safety of NetJets passengers.

NetJets technicians and flight dispatchers are preparing for a strike authorization vote. The latest labor dispute at NetJets follows a multi-year battle by the company against its pilots and flight attendants.

NJASAP: Buffett's NetJets Sued For Unlawful Union Busting

In an amended complaint filed today in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP), a labor Union representing approximately 2,700 pilots employed by NetJets, Inc., accused the Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A and BRK.B) subsidiary of engaging in an unlawful campaign to intimidate pilots and ultimately destroy the Union through a wide variety of anti-union activities.
