Deirdre Hamilton is a graduate of Oberlin College and attended law school at the University of Michigan Law School, where she served on the Michigan Journal of International Law. After graduating law school in 2000, she joined the legal department of the International Association of Machinists as a Legal Fellow. In 2002, she joined the legal department of the Association of Flight Attendants, where she handled mediations, arbitrations, and litigation. In 2014, Ms. Hamilton joined the legal department of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters where she works with the Airline Division.
Ms. Hamilton has taught at workshops for union leaders and activists on subjects including grievance handling, arbitration and the duty of fair representation. She has recently presented papers on ‘Legal Issues in Organizing Airport Contractors’ at the IBT Lawyers’ Conference and before the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Division. Ms. Hamilton has also participated in discussion panels before the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Division and that division’s RLA committee.
