Republic Pilots Come To Washington In Pursuit Of Their Own Local

Republic Airlines pilots, led by Pilot Executive Committee Chairman Peter Pranger, came to Washington this week to discuss the process of getting their own local.

“We haven’t worked out the details, but we think such an arrangement will give Republic Airways Holdings pilots the focused representation they need and deserve,” said Teamsters Airline Division Director Capt. David Bourne.

“The Teamsters is the dominant union at Republic and has enjoyed more success in protecting members in mergers and bankruptcy proceedings than any other union,” Bourne said.

The Teamsters also represent flight attendants at Republic Airways and mechanics at Frontier Airlines.

Republic Airways Holdings bought Denver-based Frontier Airlines and Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines last year. The company said it is moving all of its executives to Indianapolis as it consolidates its operations.
