UAL-CAL-CMI Mechanics Update
As reported last week; at the direction of the NMB, the negotiating committee and company representatives were summoned to Washington, DC this week to meet with the federal mediators in hopes of resolving the outstanding issues of concern. The meetings started on September 26th with each party explaining their positions to the mediators.
On September 19, the National Mediation Board sent a revised meeting notice that reconfirmed the status conference on September 26 and directed the parties to remain in Washington through September 28 to finalize all open issues. The NMB notice also reaffirmed that the NMB’s gag order remains in place, but authorized the parties to disseminate key agreed upon terms of the AIP. Below is a summary of the key agreed upon terms.
The parties reached an agreement in principal at this week's session in Reston VA. The language finalization will need to occur and is scheduled to resume in Chicago next week. It is anticipated that, since there are not many language changes needed, that this part of the process should not take long. As soon as the language is finalized the negotiating committee will reconvene to review and approve. If accepted, the agreement in principal would then become a tentative agreement.
Your negotiating committee met this week on April 21st and April 22nd to finalize our counter proposal to United’s “Final Offer.” The meetings were held at Local 19 in Houston, Texas. All articles were reviewed to proof read and sign off on language changes determined at last week’s negotiating committee meeting
