The Teamsters Airline Division joined three U.S. airlines and other labor unions in releasing a 55-page report documenting $42 billion in government subsidies and unfair benefits provided to Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Emirates Airline in direct violation of U.S. Open Skies policy. The airlines and unions also announced the launch of a new coalition, the Partnership for Open & Fair Skies, dedicated to restoring a level playing field to international air travel.

Teamsters Airline Division Director Capt. David Bourne issued an official statement on the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) 2014 Aviation Workforce report, “Current and Future Availability of Airline Pilots," saying that "The issue causing the shortage is not a lack of skill - it is the inability for many pilots to survive on wages below the poverty level."
Brisk autumn air chilled the nation’s capital early on November 12 as nine Teamster mechanics and leaders walked over to Capitol Hill, kicking off a two-day lobbying push in the ongoing fight against outsourced aircraft maintenance. Rank-and-file TAMC members held 12 meetings with congressional staff to educate lawmakers on the perils of outsourcing.
