Teamsters Airline Division Takes Safety Seriously

Because safety is a primary concern for our members, securing and increasing safety standards throughout the airline industry is a focus of the Teamsters Airline Division. Since becoming Director of the Teamsters Airline Division, Capt. David Bourne has made workplace safety a priority and the division is constantly working to promote and inform members about new safety measures.

Among other issues, the division is working to end pilot fatigue, educate pilots and flight attendants on how they can protect themselves against the N1H1 Swine Flu virus and create an international standard for flight safety.

The safety of the flying public is also high on Bourne’s agenda, which is why the Teamsters Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC) in conjunction with the Airline Division have created the Teamsters Outsourcing Defect Report and are lobbying Congress to put a moratorium on foreign outsourcing. By passing legislation that stops outsourcing to foreign vendors, Congress is not only keeping American jobs on American soil, but they are keeping the flying public and employees of the airline industry safe.
