(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Union applauds today’s confirmation of Deirdre Hamilton to serve as a member on the National Mediation Board (NMB) by the U.S. Senate. Hamilton brings more than 20 years of experience representing workers before federal courts and the NMB on a wide range of legal issues.
Program Will Increase Talent Pool for Aircraft Maintenance
(WASHINGTON) – On November 30, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved $450,000 for the Teamsters Airline Division, in partnership with the Aviation Mechanics Coalition (TAMC), for the Aviation Workforce Development Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Grant.

(Indianapolis) - Teamsters Local 135’s Edyta Hansen is at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, Maryland this week attending a Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program (FADAP) conference.
Today Local 135 Business Agent Michael Winegar flew to Philadelphia to meet Republic Airways Flight Attendant Laurie Melniczek to present her the James R Hoffa Memorial Scholarship for $10,000. Laurie’s daughter, Kendra, will be attending Lafayette College in Easton, PA to major in Bioengineering.
As discussed in a previous dispatch, a summit with United Airlines (UA) Labor Relations leadership was held in Washington DC on July 21 at the IBT Headquarters. Several issues were discussed during that meeting. These issues included the UA System Board, the growing backlog of grievances due to the pandemic (especially regarding RIF and recall) and the scheduling of arbitration cases. Commitments were made to reduce the docket and to settle grievances at the lowest possible level as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
