The Coalition of Flight Attendant Unions, representing 90,000 flight attendants including Teamsters, applauds Congressmen Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Michael Grimm (R-NY) and Bennie Thompson (D-MS) for taking the lead by authoring a letter to TSA Administrator John Pistole about the abrupt policy change allowing dangerous items in the aircraft cabin.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The Transportation Security Administration’s recent decision allowing knives in the aircraft cabin is an outrageous move that will endanger the security of the flying public and the safety of thousands of flight attendants and pilots, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said today. The Teamsters are part of a growing coalition demanding that the new TSA policy be reversed before it takes effect on April 25.

A letter from Airline Division Director Capt. David Bourne to RAH crewmembers explains that no ratification vote can be held at this point after the company substantially modified its previous final offer. At this point there is no clear and definitive “Last, Best, and Final Offer” for the members to review and vote upon. The Division anticipates the NMB will call the Company and the Union back to the table for a status meeting.
