July 2020 Special Voluntary Early Out and Extended Voluntary Leave of Absence - Letters of Agreement and Conference Calls

Below are Letters of Agreement between American Airlines, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and Teamsters Local 104 regarding the Special Voluntary Early Out Program and extended voluntary leaves of absence for Customer Service Representatives (CSRs).

Teamsters Stand In Solidarity With IAM, TWU Workers At American Airlines

(WASHINGTON) – The following is a statement from Teamsters Airline Division Director Capt. David Bourne regarding American Airlines’ ongoing negotiations with the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM):

“American Airlines has accused the TWU and IAM of participating in an illegal work slowdown. The men and women of the IAM and TWU have been in contract negotiations with American Airlines management to keep the maintenance work from being sent offshore.

American Airlines Workers with Teamsters, CWA Ratify Groundbreaking Agreement

(WASHINGTON) – Passenger service workers with American Airlines, who are members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and Communications Workers of America (CWA) Association, have voted to ratify a groundbreaking five-year agreement.The contract covering nearly 15,000 workers provides for initial average wage increases of 30 percent and improved benefits, among a number of other industry-leading gains.

BREAKING NEWS: US Airways Election Dates Announced!

Telephone electronic voting and Internet voting for US Airways mechanics and related workers will take place from July 8 through August 12, and voting instructions will be mailed out on July 8. The ballots will be counted on August 12. (Read the NMB notice.)

NMB Approves US Airways Election to Move Forward

Today, June 6, the National Mediation Board (NMB) announced that the Teamsters Union has a showing of interest (sufficient authorization cards) and will be scheduling an election soon. This is a huge step forward in our campaign to win a more secure future as Teamsters at the world’s largest airline. Now, we will truly have a choice for better representation moving forward. The labor movement generally opposes union raids on already unionized workplaces, but a contrarian university professor said that opposition is unwarranted because the raids reflect the democratic process and give workers an opportunity to be heard.

American Airlines Mechanics File for Election to Become Teamsters

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – American Airlines mechanics and related workers filed for an election today with the National Mediation Board (NMB) as part of a months-long effort to become Teamsters. The petition for an NMB election comes on the heels of a similar move by US Airways mechanics seeking Teamster representation who filed for their election earlier this month.

The week was very busy for the subcommittee meetings involving benefits including medical and pensions. J.J. Johns from the Benefits committee was brought in to assist in the benefits talks between the parties last week and continued assistance in this week’s round.
